What are some other good Sherlock movies and shows?
The only one that matter, let’s be real.
But no seriously there are tons!! The cool thing is, Sherlock Holmes is the MOST portrayed character in history so there are countless adaptions. The Basil Rathbone films are classics, the Granada series with Jeremy Brett and David Burke/Edward Hardwicke is great, the Russian series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson is ADORABLE, The Great Mouse Detective obviously, even shows like House that are more nods to Arthur Conan Doyle canon rather than full adaptions. There are tons of good ones (…and not so good ones…) out there!
“Am dining at Goldini’s Restaurant, Gloucester Road, Kensington. Please come at once and join me there. Bring with you a jemmy, a dark lantern, a chisel, and a revolver.
S. H.”—The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans
“In the third week of November, in the year 1895, a dense yellow fog settled down upon London. From the Monday to the Thursday I doubt whether it was ever possible from our windows in Baker Street to see the loom of the opposite houses. The first day Holmes had spent in cross-indexing his huge book of references. The second and third had been patiently occupied upon a subject which he had recently made his hobby–the music of the Middle Ages. But when, for the fourth time, after pushing back our chairs from breakfast we saw the greasy, heavy brown swirl still drifting past us and condensing in oily drops upon the window-panes, my comrade’s impatient and active nature could endure this drab existence no longer. He paced restlessly about our sitting-room in a fever of suppressed energy, biting his nails, tapping the furniture, and chafing against inaction.
“Nothing of interest in the paper, Watson?” he said.”—"The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans"
“I dashed from my chair, threw my arms round Holmes, and together we lurched through the door, and an instant afterwards had thrown ourselves down upon the grass plot and were lying side by side, conscious only of the glorious sunshine which was bursting its way through the hellish cloud of terror which had girt us in.”—The Adventure of the Devil’s Foot
